Purpose: This study investigates the key drivers for successful integration of collaborative robots (COBOTS) in education, proposing that success depends on a synergistic blend of pedagogy, educator support, and ecosystem partnerships.
Design/methodology/approach: A mixed-methods approach was used, combining a survey of 150 institutions, in-depth case studies of four sites, and social network analysis. Quantitative and qualitative data were integrated to analyse the relationships between pedagogical models, support systems, partnerships, and implementation outcomes.
Findings: Successful COBOT integration requires the simultaneous presence of three elements: authentic project-based learning, sustained educator coaching (with a critical threshold effect), and multi-stakeholder partnership networks. Isolated excellence in one area is insufficient; the highest success emerges from their synergy.
Originality/value: This research offers a novel, validated framework that reframes COBOT integration as a systemic, ecosystem-based challenge rather than a simple technology adoption. It provides practical benchmarks and priorities for educators and policymakers, emphasizing the necessity of integrated investment in teaching methods, professional development, and partnership building.
