Exploring the Impact of Supply Chain Drivers on Performance with Mediating Role of Supply Chain Flexibility in Pakistan's Perspective

Abstract

This research paper is a study examining the role of the key drivers of the supply chains integration, information sharing, adoption of technology, supplier relationship, and logistics capability in enhancing the performance of the organization in the context of the Pakistan manufacturing and FMCG industries through the mediated effect of the supply chain flexibility (SCF). The research, which serves to fill the longstanding performance variation between high-performing and underperforming in the emerging markets, is based on the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Organizational Information Processing Theory (OIPT), which proposes the flexibility to turn the strategic resources into the operational excellence. The design adopted a quantitative and cross-sectional survey done among industrial companies using structured questionnaires. SmartPLS 4 was used to analyze the direct and indirect relationships using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Findings verify that the supplier relationship (b = 0.367, p < 0.05) and logistics capability (b = 0.449, p < 0.05) do have significant influence over SCF which positively contributes to the supply chain performance (b = 0.302, p < 0.05). Nonetheless, there were poor effects on integration, information sharing and uptake of technology as well as the role uncertainty in the environment did not significantly moderate the effect of flexibility on performance. The study contributes to RBV and OIPT by putting them into context of the industrial situation within Pakistan to provide some theory, empirical, and managerial information on how to create flexible, data-driven, and resilient supply chains that are effective and capable of sustaining performance in an uncertain situation.
