Licensing Policy

1. Introduction

The "Journal for Social Science Archives" (hereinafter referred to as "the Journal") is committed to disseminating high-quality research in the field of social sciences. To facilitate the distribution, accessibility, and ethical use of published content, this Licensing Policy outlines the terms and conditions under which the Journal's content is licensed.

2. Licensing Options

The Journal employs an open-access licensing model to promote the broadest possible dissemination of scholarly works. Authors, upon acceptance of their manuscripts, may choose from the following licensing options:

a. Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY): This license allows others to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work and derivative works based upon it, but only if they give the author or licensor the credits in the manner specified by these. This is the most flexible license in terms of what others can do with the works.

b. Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC): This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge the author and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms.

c. Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA): This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon the work even for commercial purposes, as long as they credit the author and license their new creations under the identical terms. This license is often compared to open source software licenses.

3. Author Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for selecting the appropriate license for their work upon acceptance of their manuscript. They must ensure that they have the right to grant the chosen license and that it complies with any applicable institutional or funding agency requirements.

4. Attribution

Regardless of the chosen license, appropriate attribution must be given to the original work. Authors and users of the Journal's content must provide proper citation and acknowledgment to the original source.

5. Archiving and Repository Policies

The Journal encourages the archiving of published articles in institutional repositories and other relevant databases. Authors and institutions are permitted to archive the final published version of their articles, provided that the appropriate attribution is given.

6. Commercial Use

Commercial use of the Journal's content is allowed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) and Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) licenses. However, authors and users must adhere to the terms specified in the chosen license.

7. Modifications and Derivative Works

Users are allowed to create derivative works based on the Journal's content, subject to the conditions specified in the chosen license. Modifications should be clearly indicated, and the resulting work should be licensed under the same terms as the original.

8. Reuse Permissions

For uses not covered by the selected license, users must seek explicit permission from the copyright holder, as specified in the original work.

9. Review and Modification of Licensing Policy

The Journal reserves the right to review and modify this Licensing Policy as needed. Any changes will be communicated to authors and users through appropriate channels.
